Thanks for sharing your experience with us Maat! Hopefully any visitors and readers to your blog will take your advice and be vigilant to internal signs which seem out of the ordinary to how they regularly feel, and realize that these 'signs' may have conflicting interpretation. Yes your 'signs' were not typical, and you were most fortunate. It is also good that outside of the smoking, you have maintained good dietary habits, and are educated and well read enough to know the differences. This is 90% of the battle, and one I have come to find important for myself.

The pups and I are so very happy that our dear friend is 'repaired' so we can share whatever the future has in store for us. Le Chaim!

Thanks, Annied...I think we've both come through our recent events with flying colours (well, actually three of us have!). For sure I agree with anyone (else!) getting medical checks that are suggested...especially loved ones...but I'm not one to jump into them with any alacrity...lol. In fact, had things not been rushed along as they were with me and I'd been given a choice, I'd probably have asked to "think about it and let you know". At the same time, I may play fast and loose with other matters but savvy enough to realise that you don't do that with a body part that can stop in, literally, one heartbeat and it's all over. Glad we are ALL on the mend!

Just wanted to congratulate you on the way you have handled our recent setback.
I know from experience how scary that can be. The heart is like a search engine and has to be properly taken care of.
I am glad this was picked up and acted on quickly.
Any offers of medical checks should be accepted. Some illnesses do not show any symptoms at all, but a simple check at your Doctor's surgery can save a life. I know from a recent experience.
Glad that you are on the mend matt. xxx

I remember that day as if it were yesterday. I am sure it was a Thursday, I was a teenager at the time.
A newsflash broke on TV just before 8pm, UK time. Sitting with my Mum and Dad listening to that horrific news and knowing that one of our family was serving on that ship. We called our relative's parents in the USA who knew nothing about it at all, but the whole of the UK knew about it before they did!!!! Our relative survived with his life, but suffered a great deal throughout the years. He was awarded the purple heart but I am sure all those Servicemen would rather not have gone through that trauma. All those who survived, lived with that day for the rest of their lives, as did their families. Forgotten heroes.

Used affordable in Harrisburg, years back for a temporary partial...lasted me 8 years (cost was less than 200$), next went to a "real partial" from an independant dentist($1600)...it lasted 2 years and because of the materials used...ended up losing rest of top....
6 months ago...found another affordable in Salisbury....best day in my dental life......they did a full upper, and a partial bottom.....price was outstanding, they spent hours with me making sure the fit was right, extracted 3 teeth, and because of the wonderful people, and the relaxed atmosphere I ended up having them replace my uppers...because you could feel that they were going to do a great job.
My biggest problem now is remembering I have the partial in!! The fit is so comfortable, the uppers fit so good....these people are definately the best option.

The surviving servicemen and their families, and the families of those who are now departed have two enemies in this outrageous ordeal; The Israeli Government and the US Government. This is a cover up of monumental proportions, and why? because it protects a country who calls itself our friends, the operative word being 'calls'. If it was indeed an accident, then bonafide answers, causes would have flowed from their shores to ours. But since there were none forthcoming, it is evident it was a hostile act. Now the question becomes, "Why?" 41 years later, many of the key officials gone, our government hopes it will just fade into obscurity, no one fessing up to wrongdoings, on either side. This is a very sad story and one which again demonstrates how vulnerable we are to both outward sources and those within.

Go to echo what PupsDad said about the Manager at Concord.
Don't think she would be nvite to sleep in the bedroom again though!
Good news anyway. Well done both of you.

YEAAA!!! I know that manager at Concord Pet's. She's cool!!! We are so happy the Silkie is back with its owner, and she enjoyed her stay at MAATs where I'm sure she tried to have a good time and was taken very good care of. Sources say she got the bedroom for sleeping. Maybe she will come back one day to visit!!!

True, Laurel...there is no comparison between the two crimes but in how the hearing, reading, then commenting public view or address them. Seems the 17yr. old is an automatic 'victim' while the 12yrs. old may as well be equated with the 38yr. old adult. As you said, once a sex offender always a sex offender and somehow, the girl escapes this life sentence despite, as it was reported, this was consesual behaviour even though against the law. Are you suggesting that while a 17yrs. old female didn't have the maturity to handle her situation a 12yrs. old boy did?

well, the distinction is that the young girl was probably flattered by the attentions of an older man in a position of authority. She got sucked in. The hurt *she* inflicted is on herself, and indirectly on this foolish principal's family.

The 12 year old boy, on the other hand, has surely caused long-term psychological damage to a child, as well as physical pain.

I don't see any comparison between the two crimes.

The twelve year old, IMO, has some serious issues that need to be addressed - accoring to Megan's Law, once a sex offender, always a sex offender, right?

The Sussex Central teen got involved in a situation that she didn't have the maturity to handle.

Apples and oranges, my friend.

For years, I was always under the impression that the USA were fore-runners with life, and laws in general.
Sadly, after reading this post, I shake my head that Americans cannot, or refuse to allow a "Civil Union" between two people.
A law was passed last year in the UK over a year ago to have this recognised. I see no difference between that and a "Marriage", especially when it comes to legal rights of one or the other partner.
As in a marriage, couples quite often have families from previous relationships, which sometimes can lead to conflict of interests as to next of kin etc.
Our country and it's people have no problems with Civil Unions. I can only see it as a good thing. We love who we love, end of story!

Brown eyes that hypnotise
i'm so deep within their spell.
She tilts her head, then she smiles,
it's a smile I know so well.

When she laughs, she's everything
i could ever need.
when she's sad she like a little girl
the way she looks at me
She's everything, everything to me
my little Annie D.
Happy Birthday Babes xxx

Please see my previous comments on smoking and second hand smoke. They seem to apply for here too. Bethany Beach seems to be getting bored with pressing issues also and now has to turn its attention to smokers. The fowl air of low tide is obnoxious. Maybe fish should be asked to move also until they smell better.

I agree Perrie! This debate is just turning into bickering back and forth and nothing being accomplished. I wish the two democrats stop fighting and talk more about their plans when in office and how they will carry them out!

Very glad you brought your personal plight(s) up, annied. There is a serious misconception here with regards to universal healthcare proposals and, consistently, the nay-sayers continue to return to mocking UK, other European and Canadian systems. The horror stories used as examples would make one laugh if on didn't know those horror stories are nothing but fairy tales. One of the issues somehow always neglected is the fact that in the UK, at least, anyone has the option...if they have the means...to maintain private health insurance. I can see why some might want to do so when it comes to matters of elective surgeries but to even suggest to Americans that "you have to wait months, even up to a year, for a bed for treatment" is not only a lie but appalling, unconscienable, to boot. In my entire life I've never known of anyone who had to do so. Looking at your own example...I know of no-one here who's had speedier treatment, start to finish. I do know of those who have had insurance companies refuse certain treatments, refuse to cover pre-existing conditions when health insurance (and it is NOT cheap) has been applied for.

I'm not sure this country will ever go for a universal health care system but one option that would be better than what we have now, in my opinion, is allowing doctors and medical services to be openly competitive...like any other business. The health insurance 'industry' has not and does not seem to serve well. Of course, it also behooves us, as consumers, to note how petty law suits on the medical professions has not improved matters.

The very least we can do here is make it possible for everyone to be assured of...and afford...health care without worrying what it will cost and how they can possibly manage to pay for it.

Knowing absolutely nothing about American politics, I am hardy in a position to comment.
One thing I do know is, what the UK and USA have in common, we have troops fighting wars, young people losing their lives or being injured. I do not agree with wars and hearing on a daily basis of lost lives for no good reason makes me more than angry.
On another note, as to the Healthcare, people complain in the UK about the poor healthcare service. I personally cannot fault the healthcare my Husband and myself receive in Scotland. It could be that our local hospital is one of the biggest teaching hospitals in Europe, who knows. My Husband has been fighting Cancer for over four years and still receiving treatment and operations His Consultant has discussed every possibility with us for a better quality of life for my Husband, and is prepared to allow us to make the decison that is best for us which means an operation evry three months. Every other avenue has been explored. At the moment, it is working but it means taking up a hospital bed, Consultant's time but they allow us to do do this.
Recently, I attended a breast screening clinic at the request of the Health Service and was found to have Ductal Carcenoma Insit u.
Within a mtater of three weeks, I underwent tests, an operation and was told I was one lucky lady that it was picked up in time as the tumours were pre-cancerous.
I was operated on by one the top Professors in this country.
Now on the road to recovery, yes we pay National Insurance via our salaries, but had I or my Husband gone private, we could never have received better treatment and so quickly either.
So, come on America, start following in our footsteps. Do everything you can for your citizens.
