Oh, no!! I guess it made it sound like those were bad memories and I honestly didn’t mean to do that…to the contrary, in fact. As I said it was more TIC than anything else. True..yes. But it was part of who we were, growing up, a childhood memory we remember in it’s absurdity in a way…silly things kids will do…and laugh about when we get more sense. The reason I don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day is it’s an Irish celebrationa and I’m not…lolol…yep, just that simple! If you were to ask an Irishman if he celebrates Tartan Day or St. Andrew’s Day…or Burn’s Day…I think the answer would be “But I’m not a Scot!” or St. George’s Day…”I’m not English”, St. David’s Day…”nope, not Welsh, either” and with regard to the last two saints my answer would be the same as the Irish…being neither one of those nationalities. But honestly…there is absolutely no rancour and not intended in this posting.

AnnieD, come to think of it you probably wouldn’t have many memories of St. Patrick’s Day for I don’t remember them after we moved to the “suburbs” and you had had…what…only one year of school in the city. Not so sure the kids In West March and it’s surrounds did the same thing for I have no recollection of it there at all. Just at Rosebank..lol. I just didn’t like it for I was a scaredy-gowk…as you well know!!

Like Diana says…”Happy Days” even if more in retrospect..lol.

Wow, that reminded me so much of the book I’m (still) reading – Pete Hamill’s Forever. I blogged about it last week. The early history in the book covered the Catholic-Protestant discord (that’s putting it mildly) which took place in Ireland, where the main character of the story is from. Quite sad if you ask me.

Anyway, it’s a pleasure to read your post and learn about your experience growing up. Hope you have a fun St. Patrick’s Day – even if you choose not to wear green

Remember it well (Scots & Irish Day ) every one at school asking one another if they were scots or irish and lots of fighting out side school gates (Happy Days)

I have vague memories of that happening with friends and schools in Scotland.. but to be honest, it all went over my head when I think about it. Nothing worried me .. but we all stayed away from Catholic schools for the day.
It still does not have any part in my life. I personally have never given a thought to this particular day. Food for thought now!!! Maybe I ought to think more about it.

I am sure glad we don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s day like you did in your country! I would not like the holiday much after what you went through growing up. Here in the US we love a party and we look forward to the next one because we love to have fun. That is why you see this kind of stuff here. LOL!

I love organic foods and you are right they do cost more but they are worth it. I can not figure out why they cost more because they are not adding all that awful stuff to it. I think it is because it takes more land to raise each cow or chicken, that maybe why.

When I lived on the ranch we ate only grass feed beef and our cholesterol was very low for everyone in the family. When we left the ranch and bought store bought beef everyone but mine went way up. Hmmm do you think it is all the additives? I don’t really care for beef that is why mine did not go up. LOL!

Trina…it can be very expensive to get organic foods and that’s one of the frustrations (aside from finding it in the first place). Listen, if you ever get your freezer and want to go halves for even quarter side of organic angus, let me know. I mean it…I’ve suggested this to several people over the last couple of years but no takers. I know even that isn’t inexpensive but it is cheaper than the store. My only reservation is freezing really good, organic beef but a quarter side, especially if shared, it wouldn’t be frozen for too long a time. So..if you decide, let me know…be happy to go in with you. Yes, used to go to Yoder’s on 16 and have gone to their farm a few times. Love it! Love getting their fresh eggs, too! We got ribs from them one summer….amazing. I should do it more often but…laziness. I’m not exactly sure all their product is organic, Trina, but at least the beef is range fed and the chickens get to run around on grass and eat what God and nature intended. They even look like happy chickens! Wish we could have a few chickens here…just for the eggs…boy, wouldn’t our HOA love THAT! Not sure if you read a past post of mine which referred to goat’s milk but…have you tried it? Only place I know to get it is WalMart in Milford but it is the best milk. Some don’t like the taste…me, I love it…very creamy but you mentioned knowing what your family is eating and this milk has no BGH, the goats are happy goats..lol…no additives, preservatives etc. and the plus is it has more beneficial natural ingredients than whole milk…even my organic. LiggyB…I can relate! I’ve bought/burned CD’s or downloaded to my MP3 lullabies and classical also. One of my most favourites before the Classical Babies is music by Liquid Mind. Have three CD’s downloaded and my favourite cut is “Reflections”. Used to…long long time ago…put a nature disc in my CD player for sleep and also for wake-up until one morning I jumped up, jumped up and down on the bed to see out the bedroom window, sure there was a skein of geese in my backyard…til I realised it was the CD had honking geese behind the music…lolol.

I do try to buy organic when I can afford to do so, but it really is very expensive to buy healthy food sometimes. I’ve been thinking about going in halves with a local farmer for a grain-fed organic angus. I just have to get a big freezer first LOL but at least I would know what I’m feeding my family.

Have you tried Yoder’s in Greenwood, Delaware? They have a lot of organic meats or so I’ve heard.

They really do pump all kinds of things into our food supply!
The beef is tainted with all kinds of things we do not need to ingest. As you said though finding food in our area that is healthy and organic is tough. Great post Nancy this should be brought to more peoples attention.

What a cute video! Just a few people know this, but I put a bunch of mp3s of lullabies and classical music suitable for babies onto a CD and play it all night long. The ambience seems to help keep us and the kids in slumberland for a good night’s sleep (especially whenever our cats decide they want to play chase around the house at night).

Yes, I have had past life reading, Ruby… three were ‘highlighted’ and still have the tapes made during the session and they were quite helpful in that it did…ummm…explain…inherent aspects of my nature, character..not really sure what I’d call it in this instance. I guess to simplify explains a little of the what I am doing this time around. We did discuss “Many Lives, Many Masters” and think I still have the book here. With regards to the programme, I would like to see it portrayed in other aspects, not just solving past crimes as it seems to be leaning towards for there is so much more! Thanks for the website link!

We set to DVR this program and will give it a look.
I think past lives is a good possibility. I think the book that convinced me was Dr. Brian Weiss’ “Many Lives, Many Masters.” Fascinating book by a real doctor. If you haven’t read it, do so. I saw him in Tampa and his workshop was great. He does regression CD’s and meditation CD’s. I think he’s the real deal. Yes, Maat, I’ve seen “Capricorn One”! I wouldn’t be surprised if the ref you heard to it came from me! I always say it shows what can be done in that regard quite well. (Isn’t it a hoot that OJ is in that movie, too?)

That pretty much seals it for us, doesn’t it, Maat? I’ve already decided my second novel will be about truth and I’ve already decided the moon landing thing will be in it.

As an aside, my first novel will be on Amazon by the time your crocuses pop out. Busy working with the folks there who help with “self-publishing.” Just finalized my cover design with them and the interior lay-out. Look out, world!
