I have to say, knowing Annied and the cat, it's undoubtedly amazing for it is a truly feral animal. What Annied didn't say was the cat has never been petted or touched by human other than in a medical emergency (and then they had to trap her, I believe). She stays where she has her comforts and her known safety at said grounds of the workplace (she is also deaf) above, obviously where there is incredible trust. This is one of those examples of how we can better ourselves. This cat has been sick and been treated then released to the environment in which she is most comfortable. The cost? Donations to the service which allows it to help other animals such as this one. She's had an excellent and loving caretaker and without reservation I can tell you this little soul will be sadly missed when she crosses her Rainbow Bridge...feral notwithstanding.

Us too...we win the lottery, buy a few acres and there will be home for any animal needing it. Of course...we haven't won the lottery, we are at capacity in our own home now annnnd...we're not far from wondering if there is such a thing as a home for the aged which would allow our menagerie to accompany us!

I too am an animal lover. Only have one dog that we re-homed. A wee Westie. I have taken care of a feral cat at work or 19 years and she is still doing well. She has shelter, good food, all her own cat beds on our covered patio.
In the Uk, as far as I am aware, we have a policy that healthy animals are never put down. We have a few centres near to where we live who take in all strays and looked after until they find a new home.
Even our City Copuncil have a scheme where they take in stray dogs for adoption.
Petterden and secondchancekennels.org are charitable organisations. I take my hat off to them for saving the lives of unwanted animals. If I ever won the lottery, I would set up a place for all unwanted pets. They deserve it!
